Hooptown Basketball Camp is held in the Field House at:
Andover High School - 80 Shawsheen Road - Andover, MA 01810
We traditionally group campers onto teams according to the grade they are entering in the fall. Additionally, we take into consideration the playing ability of each camper in order to place campers in a division that is appropriate for their skill level.
We have 4 divisions of teams - Ivy League, Big East, College and Pro. The number of teams in each division is dictated by the number of campers in a particular age group. One week we may have 4 teams in the Big East and 6 teams in the College Division - and the very next week it may be just the opposite (with 6 teams in the Big East and 4 teams in the College Division).
Because of the number of campers attending camp each week, it is impossible for us to honor specific, individual requests for team placement. However, if your child is coming to camp with one (or more friends) we will place all these campers in the same division. Please know that campers who are in the same division will go to stations together, play all of their daily competitions (1 on 1; 3 on 3) together, will play their games at the same time, will go to the Canteen together and will eat lunch together.
Please trust our ability to make appropriate placements for your child. We have been doing this for a long time and are very experienced. As concerned as you are about what team your child is placed on, we must take into consideration the placement of every child attending Hooptown! We want all of our campers to have a great experience!
On Friday, the final round of games for the College and Pro Divisions will be held from 11-11:45 and the College and Big East Divisions from 11:45-12:30. All of the contest finals (1 on 1; 3 on 3; foul shooting; knockout) will begin at 12:30. Our goal is to finish the competitions at 1:30 so we can begin our awards ceremony then. Immediately following the awards ceremony, all campers will meet briefly with their coach to receive their individual basketball skill evaluation. Camp will conclude at 2:00.
Because we have a round of 1 on 1 and foul shooting on Friday morning, the “finalists” for these two competitions are not determined until late Friday morning. However, all campers will participate in the 3 on 3 finals and every camper will have the opportunity to win the Knockout Competition.
As stated in the brochure, and on each application “once your child has been confirmed for enrollment in camp

Each year, our Super Session will start off our Hooptown summer camp program. This special week of camp is for campers entering grades 5 10 and will follow our traditional daily schedule from 9 2. All campers are welcome to come between 8 and 9 AM for additional practice.
This session will be about more than “skills and drills” as we help our older campers prepare for their upcoming seasons. In addition to more advanced individual moves we will offer “clinics” on post/perimeter play so that campers can become more focused on the responsibilities of specific position play. We will have our most experienced coaches on board, and they will be emphasizing the mental and physical preparation as well as the team concepts that are expected of players who are serious about the game of basketball.
We will incorporate more live action competitive drills into the week and these campers will play 2 games per day. This is a great opportunity for your son to be introduced to a more advanced level of play all while enjoying the fun of Hooptown!
We schedule 45 minutes for each of the 2 lunch shifts (the Ivy and Big East Divisions eat lunch first, and the College and Pro Divisions each lunch second). We encourage our campers to relax, eat a good/healthy lunch, drink plenty of fluids and enjoy their “down” time. However, we do realize that many campers still have an incredible amount of energy to burn. The last 20 minutes of each lunch we open the gym for these campers to play 1 on 1 - 2 on 2 - or 3 on 3 against our coaches. We also make our Speed Stacks cup stacking available for campers to try and improve on their own personal best - or to beat the current camp record!
Cup stacking is an exciting individual and team sport where participants stack and unstack 12 specially designed plastic cups in pre-determined sequences. Individually, stackers race against the clock for their best time.
Cup stacking is an individual challenge that allows each camper to work and have success at his/her own level. It is a sport that not only develops physical skills like hand-eye coordination, quickness and focus, but also promotes self-confidence, teamwork and good sportsmanship. Not only is the cup stacking a lot of fun, but we have found that it promotes ambidexterity - so essential to basketball players.
Each day we acknowledge one or two “Campers of the Day” from each of our four divisions. By the end of each week, every coach will select one player from their team for this award. The “Camper of the Day” award is our opportunity to acknowledge campers who have distinguished themselves in a very positive way - through their hard work, hustle, good listening skills, sportsmanship, and teamwork.

The offensive skills week provides campers with the opportunity to improve, practice and refine all facets of their offensive game. The emphasis during this specialized week of camp will include passing, pivoting, dribbling, offensive rebounding, shooting, individual offensive moves, team offensive concepts - such as give and go, pick and roll, and screens "off the ball", - perimeter as well as post offensive moves and strategies for improved play on the offensive end of the court. Even though defense is obviously a BIG facet of the game of basketball, we will focus our attention on successful offensive strategies for our campers during this week."
